May Prettyman Baker, 91, passed away May 5, 2019 at the Peaks Care Center.

She was born December 24, 1927 to Joseph William and Elizabeth May (Prettyman) McGowen. Growing up in Philadelphia, she was a true ‘Philly’ girl, where she graduated from high school and attended Temple University.
May was active in the Philadelphia community in many ways, including being the first woman elected to a committeeman seat to the Office of the Philadelphia City Commissioners.
She moved to Colorado in September 1977 and lived in Aurora, Westminster and lastly in Dacono.
May is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was a member of the Thornton Senior Center since 1989 and of Rejoice Lutheran Church in Erie, CO since 2012. She was active in Adams County politics. She was a longtime committee person for the Adams County Democratic Committee and president of the 55+ club.
May enjoyed discussing politics and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by 4 children David Conn, Georgene Conn, Bethy Helverson and Albert Charles Baker III and a step daughter Barbara Baker.
May is survived by two sons David Baker and wife Cindy, and Joey Baker and wife Cathy; step daughters Karen Baker and Linda Baker; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday May 18, 2019 at Rejoice Lutheran Church, 3413 Lowell Lane, Erie, CO 80516. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Share condolences at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com.
