Marji was a sensitive person, filled with empathy for the less fortunate. She had a particular love for animals and was devoted to her friends. Her best friend Shannon Ray, lived in her complex and drove her and others to The River Church of Lyons, each Sunday. There she found the love of Christ in the people and was touched by their ministry. Marji began to get involved in making cookies for those in need at Christmastime and attended a Ladies Bible Study. Late in 2018, she was diagnosed with cancer and six months later, left us for heaven.
She is survived by three siblings, Elizabeth Stewart (Don) of Estes Park, CO; James E. Sovocool, Jr. (Patti) of Hatfield, PA and Jonathan E. Sovocool (Hollie) of Audubon, fifteen nephews and nieces and a large extended family. Marji is buried in a family plot at Glenwood Cemetery, alongside her parents and grandparents in Afton, NY.
