Joyce LaVon Leonhardt passed away September 3, 2019 at Applewood Living Center in Longmont. She was 91 years old.

Joyce was born on December 17, 1927 in Aurora, NE to Frank and Eva (Black) Leonhardt.
She graduated from Chapin Academy in Loveland in 1947 and from Union College in Loncoln, NE in 1952 with a Bachelor’s degree in Secretarial Science.
Joyce taught secretarial skills at Auburn Academy in Auburn, WA and at schools in Creede, Kiowa, Grover and at Parks Business College.
She was a member of the Mountain View Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Joyce loved to travel and take pictures. She wrote many poems and in 1990 won the “Who’s Who in Poetry” award for her poem “To the Superbowl” about the Denver Broncos which was published in the World Treasury of Golden Poems.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Leslie Leonhardt; twin sister, Joan Leonhardt; and sister, Fay.
She is survived by her niece, Jean Stanley of Tigard, OR; nephews, John (Sally) Trzil of Clarkston, WA and Fred (Christy) Leonhardt of Portland, OR.
