Obituary

By the Grace of God go I. On October 20, 2019, John Clayton Frysig crossed to the other side to join his beloved wife, Sue Ann.

John was born in Great Falls, Montana on November 29, 1939 to Mary and Carl Frysig. At an early age the family moved to Lyons where they would call home the rest of their lives. Some of his fondest memories were of hiking in the foothills in and around Lyons.

His youth found him excelling in track where he won the state championship in the half mile and played six-man and eight-man football. After high school, John joined the Navy where he proudly served as a helicopter mechanic. Upon his return to Lyons he married the love of his life, Sue Ann Kelling on August 17, 1962. Boy did they know how to have fun!

John pursued many career opportunities including mining, tool-making, mechanics and operating a service station the former Conoco station in Lyons. He ended his working career at Ted’s Hardware before retiring in 2002.

Some of his many loves of life were listening to all different genres of music, dancing, playing the guitar and harmonica, gardening (he was known for his amazing tomatoes), golfing and spending time with family and friends. He took great pride in maintaining his beautiful yard and various gardens. He and Sue Ann traveled to visit family and friends around the western states, Canada and their children in Alaska.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his beloved wife Sue Ann Frysig (Kelling) and his brothers Donald and Carl Frysig.

He is survived by his sister Millie Smith (Dave) and his children Cindy Platz (grandchildren Scott, Brent, and Katie), Jack Platz, Pamela Sattler (Robert and grandchildren Mathias and Samuel), Sandy Stahl (Jon), and five great-granddaughters.

The family would like to thank the caring and loving staff at Alta Vita Memory Care and Elevations Hospice.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday November 29, 2019 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Share condolences at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com

When my family first moved to Lyons in 1993 I had many trips to Ted’s Hardware. John was always very helpful with any questions I had and always had a smile and and some good dry humor. That first warm fall the box elder bugs were everywhere. I asked John what their best pesticide for the annoying critters was. He told me “nothing we have here, mix some Dawn dish detergent with water in a sprayer “. Best advice he ever gave me. I think of John every spring and fall when I’m spraying thousands of those annoying pests.

Thanks John,
Walter Alex
