Obituary

On February 8th, 2020, JoAnn Parson left this world peacefully, surrounded by family, to be with the Lord. She was 91 years old and lived in Loveland, Colorado.

JoAnn was born on November 8, 1928, on a farm near Tonkawa Oklahoma, to James and Mildred (Sparks) Ridgeway. She graduated Billings High School in 1946. JoAnn married Gene Parson on May 25, 1946, after meeting on a blind date, he was the love of her life. Together they moved to Colorado in 1947 and lived on a ranch near Burlington, Colorado. They later moved to Yuma, Colorado where they ran a motel and gas station. Gary, their first child, was born in Wray, Colorado in 1950. When Gary was 3 weeks old they moved to Haxtun, Colorado where Gene ran a clothing store for the next 3 years. Later, they moved to Longmont, Colorado where their daughter, Debra, was born in 1953. They lived in Longmont for the following 49 years before moving to Loveland, Colorado. The last year of her life was spent at Sugar Valley Estates Independent Living in Loveland. She loved living there and made many new friends.

Gene and JoAnn were members of the Red Dale Drifters Travel Club since 1964 and traveled all over the United States in their RV. Gene and JoAnn were snowbirds for 15 years before Gene passed away in 2005. They made so many special friends during their travels and RV'ing across the country. JoAnn also made numerous Christmas trips to Branson, Missouri as well as traveling abroad. She worked for Red Dale Coach Company for 19 years, sewing drapes and making cushions for RV's. She was also a seamstress most of her life, including working at a Bridal Shop doing alterations. JoAnn was a member of the First Baptist Church for 15 years and loved the church and its members. JoAnn enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling, camping, being with her family and doing things for other people.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Parson, her parents James and Mildred Ridgeway, her sister Marilyn Rice of Georgia, brother-in-law Dan Rice of Georgia and several nieces and nephews. JoAnn is survived by her sister Lucille (Stan) Stamps of Longmont, Colorado; son Gary (Judi) Parson of Westminster, Colorado; daughter Deb (Doug) Bell of Johnstown, Colorado; grandkids Greg (Misha) Bell of Wellington, Colorado; and Coleen (Matt) Campbell of Johnstown, Colorado; Becky (Brian) Jordan of Littleton, Colorado; Jason (Crystal) Parson of Westminster, Colorado; and great-grandkids Mackenzie (Logan) Stacey of Severance, Colorado; Trevor Bell of Wellington, Colorado; Seth and Ainsley Campbell of Johnstown, Colorado; Dakota and Preston Jordan of Littleton, Colorado; Alexis Parson of Westminster, Colorado; and a great-great grandchild who is due in July; in addition many nieces and nephews.

JoAnn touched the hearts of so many and cared deeply for her family and friends. Everyone that was blessed by knowing JoAnn, knew what a special woman she was. We will miss you more than you will ever know Mom, Grandma, GG, Aunt Jo and Aunt Pete.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Loveland.
