Gloralie K. Martensen went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 5th.

She was born in Washington Iowa, February 9th, 1932, to Harold and Louise Hayes. Gloralie graduated from Fairfield [IA] High School in 1950. In February 1953, she was married to Francis Avery. They were later divorced and Gloralie was wed to Raymond Martensen in May 1981.

Mrs. Martensen is survived by her sister, Mary Lu Paul of Brighton, IA; and her brother, Robert Hayes; Libertyville, IA. She was preceded in death by brother, William Hayes, Boulder, CO; step-son, Roger Martensen; former husband, Francis Avery; and Raymond Martensen.

Gloralie loved being a mother to two children, Timothy Avery [Bennie Jo], Loveland CO; Pam Bernard [Ron]; Phoenix, AZ; a step-daughter, Sharon Powell, Pensacola, FL; and a step-son, Alan Martensen [Barb], also of Pensacola.

She was grateful for the opportunity for time with her 10 grandchildren/step-grandchildren, Sara Moore [Michael], Hoschton, GA; Nathanael Avery [Kristin], Jefferson, GA; Christopher Avery [Carlee], Kirkland, WA; TJ Avery [Dawn], Loveland, CO; and Ali Bengtson [Walker], Loveland CO; Sarah Lynch [Chad], Denver, CO; and Kristen Gottschalk [Matt], Fallon, NV; Trudy Comerford [Mike]; Natilee Martensen, all from Pensacola, FL; and Morgan McLaughlin [Bobby], Ft Lauderdale, FL.

Gloralie’s 21 great-grandchildren included, Kelsey, Abby, Caleb, Titus, Selah, Avery, and Keira Moore, Hoschton, GA; Benjamin, Cate, Luci, and Elijah Avery, Jefferson, GA; Haley, Tanner, Carter, and Zephina Avery, Kirkland, WA; Abby and Max Lynch, Denver, CO; Jordan and Kaisley Gottschalk, Fallon, NV; and Lucy and Everett Comerford, Ft Lauderdale, FL.

Gloralie enjoyed camping and fishing, particularly in the mountains of Colorado. She was involved in the Red Hat Society in Longmont and loved to sew, quilt, and knit. Nearly all her grandkids and great-grandkids have received hand-made quilts or knitted gifts.

A friend to many, Gloralie always looked forward to Tuesday mornings, which meant time with her Caleb Group friends.

A faithful follower of Jesus, she was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Greeley, and spent the past 20+ years as a member of Rocky Mountain Christian Church in Niwot, CO.
