Elaine & family,

We were so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. We were also sorry we could not make the memorial service as I was in the hospital again with pericarditis. We have so enjoyed our long term friendship that has been close to 60 years. Whether we lived in the same city or were many states apart, we have been so blessed to have your family in our lives. Dan was a wonderful man and we will miss him greatly. Love, Errol & Marilyn McAlexander.

Elaine and family,
My sympathies to all of you at this sad time of Dan's passing. I remember a time when Dan was summoned to Iowa City to retrieve a bunch of school boys in middle of the night when our car had failed, he always had a good sense of humor. Our families new each other well growing up near Iowa City and attending St. Joseph's Church in Hills.

Elaine,
I am sorry to learn of Dan's passing. Though it was a long time ago, I have good memories of him and the other USGS staff that worked with us Iowa Geological Survey folk in the little building next to Calvin Hall on the W. Jefferson St. hill in Iowa City. Dan was always a cheerful and helpful presence. I remember him helping me convert information from geologic well logs into code form to be digitized -- my first introduction to the computer revolution that was coming. I'll always remember him as a kind colleague with a ready smile, and you as an equally happy, capable person. My condolences.
