Obituary for Richard 'Dick' Valente

Richard ‘Dick’ Valente died February 1, 2014 at his home. He was 71 years old.

He was born October 24, 1942 in Denver to Art and Helen (Folsom) Valente.

Dick served in the United States Army from Feb. 17, 1966 to Nov. 15, 1968, including a tour of duty in South Korea.

While home on leave he married Elaine Benson on May 8, 1966 in Longmont, CO.

He resided in Denver, El Paso, TX, South Korea and Arvada. Dick was a pharmaceutical salesman for Procter and Gamble Company for many years, he retired in 2001.

Dick was a member of Arvada Presbyterian Church; where he was very active, having served as an Elder on Session, Clerk of Session and on the Board of Deacons. He was also a former member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Board.

Dick was an avid sports fan. He held season tickets to the Colorado Buffalo’s and the Denver Broncos. After retiring, he was an usher at Coors Field for 12 years and also worked at the Pepsi Center. He loved fishing and gardening. Dick was proud to be a North Denver native.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Gregg.

Dick is survived by his wife Elaine of Arvada, son Scott Valente of Arvada, daughter Heather (Jason) Sneed of Gilbert, AZ, and grandchildren Shane Valente, Cooper and Cameron Sneed.

Private interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 6:00pm Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Arvada Presbyterian Church.
