Obituary for Ronald Hart

Ronald H. Hart died peacefully at home with his family in Longmont on April 6, 2013. He was 79 years old.

Ron was born January 27, 1934, in Hastings, Nebraska, where he enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball. He attended Hastings College and later graduated from the University of Nebraska in Architectural Engineering.

Ron married Janet Watson in 1950 and had four daughters. The family eventually moved to Boulder where Ron had a 32-year career with Ball Aerospace, until he retired in 1988 after serving as vice president, Operations. In Boulder, he acted as president for the Jaycees and chairman of the Republican Party, and served on boards of directors for the Chamber of Commerce, Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools, United Way and YMCA. He also was an advisor for Industry Technology at CSU.

Devoted to his wife, family and community, Ron belonged to Faith Community Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golf and was a fan of the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Ivan and Helen Hawthorne Hart. He is survived by his wife and one brother, Douglas Hart (Mary Jane). Ron also leaves behind his daughters, who all reside in Colorado, Cheryl Cornell (Ray), Christine Mueller, Shelley Willemsen (Tim) and Pam Butler (Jeff), in addition to eight grandchildren Kit Franz (Annika), Holly Franz-Warren (Bryce), Bailey Smith McCallister (Aaron), Matthew Willemsen (Christy), Mallory Mueller, Chelsea Willemsen, Ian Butler and Frances Butler, as well as three great grandchildren.

A memorial celebration will be held on April 13, 10 a.m., at Faith Community Lutheran Church, 9775 Ute Highway (66), Longmont. Memorial donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
